Provider comparison

Live Dealer Studios

The casino doesn't run the live tables - five studio providers do. Knowing which studio powers your operator's live offering tells you more about quality than the casino brand name does.

Why the studio matters more than the casino brand

When you play live blackjack at Casumo, you're not playing Casumo's blackjack - you're playing Evolution's blackjack with Casumo's logo on the lobby. The dealers, cameras, cards and platform all belong to the studio provider. The casino is just the storefront and the wallet.

This means two casinos running the same studio (Evolution, say) offer functionally identical live tables. Comparing "live casino quality" between two Evolution-powered operators is meaningless - what changes is the welcome bonus, the loyalty programme, and how fast withdrawals settle. The live game itself is the same.

Knowing which studio powers a casino lets you cut through the marketing. If a casino claims a "world-class live offering" but runs only a small Ezugi feed and no Evolution integration, the marketing is misleading. The studio integration list is usually buried in the casino's terms or visible in the live lobby footer.

The five studio providers

Evolution Gaming

Founded 2006 · Riga, Latvia / Stockholm, Sweden
Tables
1,000+ live tables
Bet range
£0.10 minimum (some game shows) to £500,000+ at Salon Privé VIP tables
Studios
20+ purpose-built studios across Latvia, Malta, Romania, Spain, Colombia, the Philippines, the US (NJ, PA, MI, CT, WV) and Canada (Ontario).

Strength: The largest network, the deepest table count, and the entire premium game-show category that competitors are still trying to copy. Studio quality (lighting, camera angles, dealer training) is the industry benchmark. Available at virtually every UKGC and MGA-licensed operator.

Watch out for: Ubiquity is sometimes a drawback - the same tables appear at hundreds of operators, so there's no real product differentiation between casinos that all run Evolution. Game-show RTPs (Crazy Time, Monopoly Live) are notably worse than blackjack/roulette equivalents.

Pragmatic Play Live

Founded 2018 · Bucharest, Romania
Tables
~150 live tables
Bet range
£0.10 minimum on game shows to £75,000 on VIP blackjack
Studios
Studios in Bucharest, Sofia, Manila and São Paulo. Notable for being a vertically-integrated slot studio + live casino studio under the same group, which simplifies operator integration.

Strength: Fast-growing challenger to Evolution. Strong VIP table depth and aggressive expansion into emerging markets (India, LatAm). Their game-show portfolio is the most credible non-Evolution alternative - Mega Wheel and Sweet Bonanza CandyLand are widely played.

Watch out for: Smaller catalogue than Evolution, and some early-launch game-show RTPs (95-96%) were undercut by Evolution's later releases. Studio production quality has improved fast but is still a half-step behind Evolution at the premium end.

Playtech Live

Founded 1999 · Riga, Latvia (Playtech HQ in Isle of Man)
Tables
~80 live tables (excluding branded private tables)
Bet range
£0.50 minimum to £100,000+ at private high-roller tables
Studios
Studios in Riga, Lima (LatAm), Manila, and a US joint-venture studio for state-regulated markets.

Strength: Particularly strong in live baccarat (dominant in Asia) and branded studios - many large operators run dedicated Playtech-powered VIP rooms that feel like the operator's own product rather than a generic Evolution feed. The Adventures Beyond Wonderland branded live game is genuinely innovative.

Watch out for: Smaller European footprint than Evolution and Pragmatic. Some operators have migrated from Playtech to Evolution in recent years citing reliability and dealer-quality concerns. The non-branded table catalogue is thinner.

Authentic Gaming

Founded 2014 · Malta
Tables
Live-stream from real Malta and Romania-based casinos
Bet range
£0.10 minimum, lower table caps than Evolution
Studios
Casino-floor cameras at Portomaso (Malta), Saint-Vincent Resort & Casino (Italy), Casino International Batumi (Georgia) and a few other partner casinos.

Strength: Unique differentiator: streams from real land-based casinos in Malta, Romania and Spain - the wheel and ball are physical and shared with walk-in players. No studio-actor staging. Niche appeal for players who want a more authentic land-based feel.

Watch out for: Acquired by Scientific Games / Light & Wonder in 2018 and the brand has shrunk post-acquisition. Limited catalogue beyond roulette. Few operators carry it as the primary live offering - usually a secondary brand alongside Evolution.

Ezugi

Founded 2012 · Sofia, Bulgaria (Evolution-owned since 2018)
Tables
~60 live tables
Bet range
£0.10 minimum to £5,000 at standard VIP tables
Studios
Sofia headquarters plus regional studios in Belize, the Philippines and Cambodia.

Strength: Strongest live coverage of Indian and Latin American culturally-specific games (Andar Bahar, Teen Patti). Owned by Evolution but operates independently - many operators carry Ezugi alongside Evolution's mainstream catalogue for regional player segments.

Watch out for: Smaller catalogue and lower production quality than Evolution's flagship studios. Mostly relevant as a regional supplement rather than a primary live partner.

How to find which studios your casino uses

  1. Open the live casino lobby. Most operators tab the live offering by studio name - "Evolution", "Pragmatic Live", "Playtech" or branded VIP rooms.
  2. Click into a specific table. The dealer's intro typically mentions the studio ("Welcome to Evolution Blackjack"); the table info panel (the "i" icon) always names the studio provider.
  3. Check the casino's game-provider page or footer. UKGC operators must disclose all game providers they integrate with - this list will name every live studio.
  4. For US state-regulated operators: each studio must be separately licensed in each state. The state regulator's list of approved suppliers tells you which studios are technically authorised for that operator.
